Learning & Development

Southwestern Health Resources employees have access to Texas Health’s learning and development services. Below are some of the resources and programs available. Contact your HR leader or THRU learning leader to help find unique resources that SWHR may need.  If the resources below do not answer your questions or you would like to talk through options, please contact us.

My Talent

My Talent is the learning management system that hosts our online learning.  Most of our required training courses are hosted here.

My Talent doesn’t just deploy online training, it also allows you to create live or virtual training events, register attendees, and track attendance.  It is your record keeping system.  Reporting can be run to determine who has or has not completed training.

Online Leadership Training is also available to you in My Talent through Skillsoft.  Once you have logged in to My Talent, choose the “Learning” menu option and type your subject (e.g. Communication, Teamwork, etc) into the search box.  Online courses can be added to your learning plan.  You can also add them to your Team Member’s learning plan if you are a leader. Please see this link for an explanation of how to add that content.

Synapse

Synapse is an online authoring software that is designed for people at any skill level to be able to design learning content.  If you have a desire to develop training for your team or a broader audience, we can give you an orientation to Synapse and get you started.  Synapse allows you to embed video and PowerPoint, so you do not have to start from scratch.  Your training can be deployed via e-mail or be formally tracked in My Talent.  If you are interested in an Orientation to Synapse, contact your THRU Learning Leader.

My Career Journey

A career development assessment and tool to help you create your experience path within SWHR. My Career Journey has tools like personal assessment and career assessments. For many of the tools in My Career Journey/Fuel 50, it doesn’t matter where you work or what your role is because it is just valuable insight. To help you get started, we are offering a user guide and live demo sessions.

Continuing Education

THRU has received Joint Accreditation designation and it allows Texas Health (and thus, SWHR) to provide medical, nursing and pharmacy continuing education through a single, unified process, fee structure and set of accreditation standards.  If you have a desire to have any of your learning activities certified for continuing education hours, this team is available to help.  Contact your THRU learning leader to get connected.

CE Direct is an online program that is available to many in our clinical job codes who need access to continuing education for their licensing requirements.  There is free course work on both clinical and leadership subjects.  CE Direct is a separate program and log in from content in My Talent. If you have not received information about CE Direct and believe you may be eligible, contact your THRU learning leader for information.

There is an open site that THR hosts for CME and all physicians are welcome to use the site to search for content that meets their needs for CME. https://ce.texashealth.org/

SWHR’s Women in Leadership program is focused on the advancement of women leaders and equipping them for their development as leaders at all levels.
